I'm back. Almost
Its been a while! There's been a bit of stress and happenings going on over the last 3 months or so. I've had some wobbly patches with staying on track but overall, I haven't done too badly.

New WI Day

If that isnt enough to make your stomach turn, nothing will.
No after weeks of faffing about, losing motivation and perseverance half way through the day, I have decided ENOUGH! I've changed my WI to Tuesdays from Thursdays because a) it means that I can start my new week NOW and no more mucking about; b) I work from home Tuesdays and wont be running late for work at the office ;)
So I hopped on the Wii this morning, took a deep breath and loosened my death grip on the controller. No loss, no gain. Punched the air in victory and wonder what the heck is going on - 2 weeks well over points and a total of 500 grams lost in that time. Amazing!
It certainly fired up the motivation for me today, and I am pleased to say that I have not eaten any chocolate today, and have even saved a point.
Yay!
Extra challenges are being faced at the moment as I have stopped smoking. I had my last cigarette 59 hours ago. I am using patches and having lollipops as cigarette replacements but its still hard going. If I can quit smoking and still lose weight, I will certainly realise how strong I am.

The real post
I'm very excited my test post worked! Wow! (I got a new phone on Wednesday and it has SO many cool features! Too many to even count)
So, I know you are all GAGGING to know how WI went. I continued to blow out all week and kicked myself about for it. I was resigned to a gain, it was just a matter of how much.
So I braced myself and hopped on the scales yesterday. 500 gram loss!
What?!
Not quite sure what the old bod is doing at the moment. I was well over points by at least 50 (I stopped tracking on Tuesday), and I've shifted to maintenance so am 'allowed' 23 a day as opposed to 19.
Dont get me wrong, I'm not complaining. I'm just very confused!
And you would think that after escaping Epic Gain that I would be good, right?
Well, I'm trying but have a huge sweet tooth at the moment. PT says that it could be a lack of carbs again but to eat a small amount of what I crave. So I've been doing that the last few days and it isnt looking pretty on my points tracker....
Aiming for improvement this week. And at least I'm still keeping up the exercise!
One nifty application I found for my phone is a weight tracker. I copied down my stats from the Weight Tracker on WW and got this awesome graph. It certainly helped with motivation this afternoon

Bad week. Very bad week.
I've fallen off the wagon in spectacular style this week and I have no idea why.
Its day 6 of my week, 2 days from WI, and my sins are as follows:
Saturday - went to a social event at a local pub with fellow Mums. I didn't drink alcohol, but made good use of the free non-al punch on offer. Ingredients were tropical fruit juice and lemonade. Somehow I doubt it was Sprite Zero... I lost count of how many glasses I had but I'm guessing at least 10. There was also a steady stream of nibbles coming out: deep fried salmon and rice balls, fish cakes (fried), a platter of battered fish bites and spring rolls. Vegetarianism saved me from further sin as I couldnt eat the mini pastries, quiche, hot dogs or sausage rolls although I desperately wanted to. I also ordered a large bowl of fries. Very, very bad.
Monday - Tofu night in our house, but try as I might, I couldn't even fake enthusiasm for it. So we ended up getting Pizza under the guise of 'celebrating' DH's new job. Well, I pigged out like I have not done in over a year. 5 slices of pizza, half a box of Lemon pepper wedges with Aioli, Deep fried sweetcorn nuggets, washed down with chocolate milk and chased with a Rocky Road Magnum. 40 points! For dinner!!
My body punished me overnight with a distended stomach and a food hangover. Well deserved in my opinion.
So after all this you would think that I would be goig out of my way to be good today. Well, I'm trying but cutting a fine line. I work from home today and took Luke to playgroup where I had chocolate cake (a tiny square but I never have issues resisting usually). I'm not even HUNGRY todya yet I find myself snacking like a fiend.... rice crackers, low-fat cheese on toast, and meringues that I bought as I managed to resist the chocolate twist pastry that beckoned me at the shop.
I've been snacking for days now. Its got to the point where I am chewing gum to have something in my mouth, hoping that it will keep me away from the pantry. Its hit and miss.
I'm not hungry, perhaps I'm a bit bored, but I really thought I had waved farewell to the emotional eating. The one bonus is that at least I am keeping up with my regular exercise. At least 2 sessions at the gym a week, lasting an hour a time. Also running a bit here and there too.
I desperately need help. What is wrong with me that I am eating without being hungry? Is it self sabotage as I'm so close to goal? I keep beating myself up but that doesnt help OR prevent me from repeating the behaviour.
Please, someone say something profound! I cant go on like this or I'll find the 30kg again before I know whats hit me :(

Cr@p!!
700 gram gain! SEVEN HUNDRED GRAMS!!!!
OK, so to be fair, I didnt stick to points very well this week. I've been really hungry and tried my best, but caved to fish and chips on Tuesday which would have hurt big time.
Still, I'm fairly gutted. 1.1kg from goal now :(
Plan of attack - get my appetite under control and stock up on low points foods. Wish me luck.
Pretty bad morning all around today - after bumming out about the scales, I cut my finger on a kitchen knife AND walked into a door giving myself a massive lump on my eyebrow. Possible black eye perhaps?
Was also late to work by 45 minutes and my inbox is overflowing. There is a plate of cake on MY desk for a shared morning tea. I try not to make eye contact with it....
I have my porridge, muesli bars and Tom Yum soup. I'll stick to points today if it kills me! PT session in just over an hour and I WILL work my butt off!
Update: I've been an angel today! Earned 4.5 points at the gym, and stuck to points. Healthy dinner of fish, quinoa and vege's and dessert of WW jelly :) I still have 1.5 points left for the day but plan to save them. I feel very smug and proud of myself!

Great Gym Assessment result!
Yesterday was the start of week 4 of my 13 week gym program.
When I signed up, the PT set my goal to reduce my body fat percentage from 32% to between 26 and 28%.
Each Monday I've had my weigh and measure, and in my first week, lost 2% body fat. She said to me at the time that it was a great loss, but that would probably be the biggest loss I'd have, being week one and all (that week I lost 1.6kg at WI)
Week 2 saw a slight increase in body fat - it had been a bad eating week and it showed, but not too bad. WI on Thursday showed a 100 gram gain.
Well, yesterday I was in shock when she announced that I had lost 1.9% body fat this past week! Amazing! That takes me down to 27.5% and PT said that even if I didnt lose any more she was happy with where I am at and I've reached my goal already. I'm hoping for a good loss at WI this week too, but the call of chocolate last night has been pretty strong so I'm feeling cautiously optimistic.
Naturally I'm all fired up and setting myself a goal to lose another 2.5% over the next 9 weeks. Can it be done? If passion is any measuring stick it sure can be! Imagine having only 25% body fat! Wouldnt that be awesome!!
I also managed a 5k run on Sunday - the first run since the 10k a month ago and I was feeling it!
Ah yes, its a good week :) Now, just 2 days to get through without blowing out too badly and I hope to have a HUUUUUGE smile on my face!

The side effect of exercise - insatiable hunger!!
Ah yes, that chewing feeling in your stomach where everything edible looks great, points value be damned!
It was one of those weeks. The gym is clearly doing its job with another cm lost off arms and waist (yay!), but the hunger is something new and I didnt manage this week very well at all.
Over the weekend we had a relative say, so we had dinner out on Thursday and dinner at a another relatives on Friday. You would think that having been at this for nearly 16 months, that I would be able to handle the un-planned a bit better by now!
Alas, the call of the bread basket and dips was too strong to resist at the restaurant. I managed to stick to my no alcohol challenge (20 days and counting now) and avoided desert, but those darn breads and dips.... mmmmmm.
I went to the gym on Saturday and squeezed in a good hour, and we had a fair bit of walking Friday and Saturday with visits to the shopping centre and a farm attraction.
To cut a long story short, I earned 16 exercise points. I ate all of them, plus another 9 for good measure :(
I had a 100 gram gain, which wasnt too bad, all things considered and I have PROMISED to have a better week this week.
Its Saturday now and day 3 of my week. I've done quite well. It was another on-the-hop meal last night and I made the most of McDonalds WW meals. I was pretty cynical when they came out but I do admit that its very handy to be able to know exactly what you are eating when you have limited options, are short for time and are starving. I have McDonalds maybe once a month and its super handy being vegetarian because takeaway options are pretty limited. Its always a filet o fish for this girl, or Subway. Not too unhealthy!
I put my hand up to having a Sneaky WI on Friday and am KICKING myself for it. I weighed in at..... 66.9!! Which, had it been an official WI day would have meant GOAL!
But its not and now all I can do is work really hard and make sure it stays there so that I can get on here and Yippee on Thursday.
Now, what can I find to eat..........

A loss is still a loss
I hopped on the scales to a 200 gram loss this morning. Initially I was a bit disappointed but then perked right up when I remembered last weeks big loss and decided to look at this as an average loss of 900 grams over the last 2 weeks.
I've been consistent with my gyming and even went to have a session yesterday morning before work which is unheard of. I knew that I wouldnt have time to go at lunch so I'm pretty pleased that I made the effort rather than flagging it. I also managed to bike 7k yesterday and feel rather good about that too.
I get a new 'workout' at my PT session today and I believe next up is abs. I need all the help I can get with those!
All up I earned 25 exercise points last week, but ate 20 of them. I was pretty hungry and although ideally I would have liked to save them, at least I earned them first so I didnt technically go over.
Thats my story and I'm sticking with it :)
300 grams til goal and I would LOVE to get there next week. Lots of changes coming up for me soon which I will share in due course. Needless to say that getting to goal will be fantastic and bring me to 30kg lost.
I'm going to work REALLY hard this week and do my absolute best.

Lowest weight ever!
Yay!!!!!!
I recorded my lowest ever weight today of 67.5kg - a massive 1.6kg loss since last week!
Not sure how this happened as I didnt do a jot of exercise, but today I have my first gym session and I'm biking there and back to boot.
Today also heralds the huge milestone of reaching my 30%. Crazy to think that I have lost nearly 1/3 of my body weight!
Pretty happy today, on track with food and feeling great.

13 week gym program starts this week!
I just had my initial weigh/measure assessment at the gym and am the proud owner of my very own folder and menu plan. I dont know what my weight was (I never ask as it counts as a sneaky for me) but my body fat percentage is 32%. Target for the next 13 weeks is to bring that down to 28-26%. My trainer thinks that is perfectly achievable over that time and I'm excited!
I also have a meal plan. I'm going to follow it for 2 weeks and see how that goes. I'll still track it, but if its over points then so be it. Looks OK so far although it says to use milk in some meals *gasp* and I never have milk so that will be interesting. Protein is at about 90 grams a day which is good as I'm always looking for ways to up that. My protein recommendation is 50 grams in general but I'm probably lucky to get 30 grams of that. I just need to tweak a few of the meals to make them vegetarian, but that should be easy enough. I'll start tomorrow :)
I biked to work this morning (brrrr, it was frosty cold) so by the time I bike home again thats 1.5 exercise points. Hoping to get to the gym at lunchtime as I've been FAR too lazy this past week. No excuses today - even if it is just a 3k run or a circuit. Have to start getting back in the exercise zone!

Fresh start, new attitude
Good evening lovely Followers!
Forgive me in advance because this blog post is very me, me, me...
First up: Confessions!
My weekly points allowance is 133. This week I consumed a massive 240-odd points! I cant even begin to tell you the gorge fest that I had, and in desperation I went and spoke to a PT at the gym on Wednesday and told her how I have been so hungry lately.
She told me that in her opinion, the training I undertook for the 10k run was upping my appetite and my body needed more fuel. Her advice? Eat if you are hungry!
I wasnt too sure about that, seeing as I was so over points with minimal discipline, and I didnt think my training was all that hard-out, but I took her opinion on board and decided that Thursday would be a new day. I decided to change WI from tomorrow to today to align myself with our new WW challenge (more on that soon).
I hopped on the scales this morning and braced myself for Epic Gain. I was blown away when the scales showed a VERY forgiving 400 gram gain! Dodged that bullet and learned a few things in the process.
I have also signed up for the Break program through my gym. Essentially it is a 13 week program with 2 x 30 minute one on one training sessions with a PT a week. They also provide a nutrition plan but I think I'll have a look over it before I decide whether to follow it or stick with WW. I am very excited about starting this next week! Thursday is my first session :)
Some of you may remember that I have mentioned my S2S girls a few times. Back in July last year, a group of us started Slimming to September - an 8 week 'challenge' thread on the WW boards. We, a group of mums on a mission, posted every day and got to know each other very well. These ladies are definitely now among my closest friends and were the ladies I met up with in Sydney in May. S2S morphed into challenge after challenge, and here we are a year on, just starting S2S the Anniversary edition.
We've only lost one participant along the way and picked up a few more too and we all post daily on WW and/or Facebook, text each other and generally share each others lives to a level that I never thought possible. They mean so much to me and their unwavering support and sense of humour has defused many a bust WI.
So there were a few sentimental tears as we kicked off S2S 2010 today!
Lastly, I have just completed my application for the WW Healthy Life awards! I am freaking out (a tad) that my photos, real name and innermost thoughts are up online for all to see and vote on.... but heck, I am proud of how far I have come over the last 15 months!
So, if you have a spare minute, I would really appreciate your vote. You can find my profile here

How much is 28kg?
I was beating myself up this morning for eating like a mad thing the last few days. Then I put the brakes on and decided to stop giving myself a hard time.
I needed to have a moment of celebrating my success.... so I Googled. Lets put in perspective how much weight I have lost.
What weighs 28kg?
Well, this kayak does

And freakishly, this 11 month old baby.

The WI and the run!!
Today was the 10k run, and it was awesome!
It was HORRID weather in wellies today :( We were up around 6am and I checked the weather forecast - 8 degree's but "feels like 4". Delightful!
We drove in and hung around for a bit (we were pretty early) and got dressed. I had SO many choices with what to wear! Initially I was going to wear leggings with shorts and my purple top, but it was blowing a gale and raining so I went with trackies over leggings, a singlet AND a long sleeved shirt under the purple top and a beanie!
Any fear of being too warm was quickly quashed when we got in to the blistering South Westerly!
We all stood about in the rain for a few minutes before the start. It was really funny. Every minute they'd say "3 minutes til start" etc. Everyone would groan and have a laugh, cursing the rain. There were 1162 contestants in the 10k run and the sight of everyone jumping up and down to warmup at the start line was hysterical - like a human wave.
It was a great run. DH told me later that he bolted off at the start and by the time they got to the bottom of the ramp (800m or so) he was half dead so he dropped his pace a bit. He managed to finish in 53 minutes! Bastard. He went for one 3k run in the last 3 weeks.
He was there waiting for me at the finish line and hadnt even gone through the finish chute so we kinda got to finish together :)
We had both finished our race by 10.30 and the prize giving wasnt til 1 so we went and had a huge feast of McDonalds :) Then went to the museum to limp around for an hour before we went back to the venue.
There were some amazing spot prizes (pity we didnt win any) like $250 shoe vouchers, ipods, a mountain bike, $400 Adidas sport packs and 1 entry into the London Marathon INCLUDING flights and accommodation!

Overall there were 4800 runners out there today. 460 people ran the marathon, there was a half marathon too (with the top finishers having the same time as I did for the 10k!) and the person who won the 10k event smashed it in 33 minutes. Yes, you read that right.
We're both pretty tired and sore now, hobbling around like people 3 times our age. But the buzz that we have is amazing and we feel on top of the world. I wanted to run the 10k in 70 minutes or less and managed it in 68 mins, 59 seconds. DH was aiming for 55 minutes so he well and truly came in on target.
Here are a couple of photos from the day

Running and bingeing
The day before WI.... ah, the anticipation and dread combined to make one obsessive evening!
The lows:
My points this week have been all over the place. I am currently 12 points in the red (including my exercise points!) and I fear I will eat more tonight. I'm VERY hungry!
I haven't gone to the gym.
I have barely had any water and far too much bourbon.
The highs:
I have run twice this week! I ran 6.5k on Monday, and last night.... *drum roll* ...... I ran 9.1k!
WOOOHOOOOOOO!

I didn't even stop :)
DH picked my stuff up from work and I said "bring the dog! I'll take her with me". When he arrived at work, he said he had forgotten the lead so would whip home and get it. I started my run and 600m into it he arrived with dog and lead. I got her out of the car and clipped her lead on and carried on my way.
Then I remembered why I don't usually run with her. She stops ALL THE TIME. Something interesting to sniff, needs a pee, crossing my path, yanking on the lead or falling behind. But I love her so on I went.
I ran up the road toward home and around a cul-de-sac close by. 4k. Darn, not far enough for my 7.5k target. Took a right to run past the estuary and down another road and got up to 6k. Up another road and had to stop for some stupid car that I thought was going straight ahead - nope - the driver just didn't know what her indicator was for. But it was only for a few seconds so I don't count that as a break either.
Poor dog was getting tired and started to jump up against my leg, but on I went, undeterred, grumbling "get DOWN Puppy!" as I tried not to fall over.
Around the block a couple of times, dragging poor dog along. 9.1k! I couldn't believe it!
I have my 10k run on Sunday and I KNOW I can smash it now :) 9k took me 58 minutes, so I think I am well able to do 10k in 70 minutes which is my goal. And no dog to slow me down :)
Good thing she's cute, huh!

Day 3 back on the wagon
Well.... half on at least :)
This is my Accountable post.
Friday was a 20 point day and I had 19.5 points.
Yesterday my allowance was 29 but a night with friends, bourbon and nibbles bought me to 31 at a best guess (hard to track when you've had a few bourbons and there is camembert and crackers out). Still, not too bad all things considered.
Today was a 15 point day and I am currently on 16.5 and using all my willpower to resist the WW Ginger Kiss bars in the pantry. Mmmmmm..... Ginger Kiss......
Gym gear is packed for tomorrow, lunch is made, and I have 18 points to play with tomorrow.
My knee hasn't niggled all weekend so I plan to get a good run in tomorrow.
I know - my posts are so exciting! lol

I'm back!
I've spent the last week moping and feeling sorry for myself, eating everything in sight and not even tracking. Pretty pathetic really!
Last weeks WI completely threw me with a filthy STS after being perfect all week. I then WI'd again the day after to make sure and was greeted with a 500 gram gain!
I was going to totally avoid WI this week after eating large portions as well as pizza, choclate, potato chips, cheese, crackers and dessert..... all the stuff I avoid generally. I wasnt sure if I could deal with a huge gain this week as I'm just getting my mindset right again, but WI I did, and had a STS from the one 6 days prior.
Darned if I can figure out what my body is doing!
This week I'm back on track and hoping my sore knee wont interfere with my exercise too much.
I've started tracking again and am about to Google for a detox plan for a day or two. Nothing like eating garbage to make you feel like garbage!
Here's to a better week everyone
x

Oh well....
No one ever said this weight loss thing would be easy - and this weeks WI was a bit of a kick in the guts.
I tried the Wendie plan this week, went only half a point over and earned 19 exercise points. So needless to say the STS I got on the scales yesterday made me feel like crying.
I reacted pretty badly by consuming 31 points yesterday in rebellion (although will take it as a High Points day which takes me 2 over for the week - assuming I stick to the Wendie plan the rest of the week). But its a new day, etc etc.... back on the horse.
Darn horse.
The other girls seem to be getting good results on Wendie with losses between 600 grams and 1.2kg, so I do have hope.
I took my measurements this morning in the hope of grand things since the last time I measured in early April. 1cm off my waist and everything else is the same, but at least its 1cm, right?
Horrid weather here of late so no run for me today. I could if I made myself but 12 of yesterdays points were bourbon, and I feel a teeeeeny bit shady :)
Plan to spend time with my boys inside and keep cozy warm.
I hope everyone had a better WI result this week.
Plan of attack this week is to stay on Wendie but try eating half my exercise points. I'm certain that there is a fine line with my 'starvation mode' as if I earn more than 10 and dont eat them, the losses slow.
Have a great week

Go me!
To date the longest distance I have run is 6k. The longest I have run without stopping is 5k.
So on the treadmill I get (rather begrudgingly to be honest) and I ran.
And I ran, and ran, and ran. I got to 5k without stopping and decided to keep going. I ran 7k WITHOUT WALKING in 45 minutes. I started my cooldown and after a couple of minutes decided I still had more in the tank so I cranked out another 1k.
A total of 8k's, 51 minutes running in total and 6.5 exercise points!!!!
Proud.... who, me? lol
Bring on 10k :)
